Roy Chan![]() I am entering my final year in the Kinesiology and Health Science program at York University. I have studied exercise physiology, biomechanics, anatomy, nutrition, fitness consulting and personal fitness. I have my CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer certification, and currently working towards attaining the CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist certification. I have worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from underweight to obese, sedentary to varsity athletes, and hypertensive individuals. Client goals varied from weight loss, improving functional capacity, enhancing strength, developing speed and power for sport specific purposes, and to begin practicing active living to optimize health benefits. With varsity level basketball and volleyball players, I guide them through their exercise programs, paying close attention to form, technique, and ensuring appropriate rest intervals to minimize the risk of injury and to maximize gains from their training. With hypertensive individuals I monitor their heart rate throughout their exercise to assure that it stays at a safe range. Outside of personal training, fitness consulting and school, I train regularly and follow a healthy diet. I have experience in rehabilitative practices as I am currently shadowing a physiotherapist at a sports medicine clinic. I was also involved with fitness testing in the 2011 NHL Scouting Combine. I plan to acquire my masters of physiotherapy, specializing in injury assessment and rehabilitation to service our community as most people will face injuries regularly in the course of their lives.
